Career - Associate Veterinarian

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Veterinary Associate is responsible for delivering high-quality medical and surgical care to small animal patients while maintaining excellent client communication and adhering to the clinic's protocols and standards. This position requires collaboration with the veterinary team to ensure the highest standard of patient care and client service. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform thorough physical examinations and assess patient health status.
  • Diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions in companion animals.
  • Develop and communicate appropriate treatment plans to clients.
  • Perform routine surgical procedures and dental care, as assigned.
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in the practice management software.
  • Prescribe medications and provide detailed at-home care instructions.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, staff, and other veterinarians.
  • Participate in continuing education and remain current with developments in veterinary medicine.
  • Follow all clinic protocols regarding safety, infection control, and patient handling.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Uphold the clinic's mission, values, and standards of care.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Contribute to a respectful, positive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Follow scheduling and attendance policies, including promptness and preparedness.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and veterinary regulations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution.
  • Active veterinary license in the state of Indiana.
  • Active USDA National Veterinary Accreditation.
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency in routine surgery and dentistry preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
